Tyla Wins Her First Grammy Award
Congratulations are in order for Tyla who just won herself the prestigious grammy award for her "Water" song. At only 22 years old, she becomes the youngest South African to get such an accolade and the first artist to win in the Best African Perfomance category.
Man, the popiano star has been making history since Water dropped last year in June. The song shot her to international stardom garnering her a bunch of nominations, interviews, performances and chart debuts. And now, she adds Grammy Award Winner to her young career's list of accomplishments.
Getting this award from the American Recording Academy was no easy feat though. She was up against some of the biggest names in the African music scene who were also nominated for the same award. I'm talking about the Nigerian sensations Asake (and Olamide), Ayra Starr, Burna Boy and Davido (feat. Musa Keys), of course.
